Hey finally today slept for 12 hours..my preferred kind of undisturbed , uninterrupted rest.
The shagness started off from saturday morning when my friend and I joined in the S2006 "Amazing Race" team building event. This is not the AXN-organised Amazing Race held on the actual same day but rather is a mini version of it. The organiser is Singapore Tourism Board. This event involves some military personnel from logistics unit and a few of my fellow army mates were taking part as bus in-charges which means they were in charge of ensuring participants board the bus to various stations to play games etc. My friend and I were roped in last minute to join in the games. I was the team IC for my team comprised of students from Singapore Poly. The race was some sort of like those heritage tour games and teams had to run around stations to stations playing games and solving obstacles all that crap before proceeding on. Reminded me of orientation games. Am not a person who is particularly enthusiastic in this kind of games so why am I there when I can have my beauty sleep instead ? I am not ashamed to be terribly frank that I am there just because those from my company who were present are promised a day's off. That's why I am there. In the army there is not a need to volunteer to do extra stuffs , unless there are rewards such as off days. My team emerged overall 2nd out of 50 teams and I think is awesome because we were like lagging behind other teams in terms of timing but as the saying goes : "slow and steady wins the race". We received nydc vouchers so we are going to eat at nydc this weekend. Not bad , considering that my only motivation to last throughout the event is because of an extra off day (kind of sad but is reality). At the end of the event the gains were more than expected such as new friends made. Coming in 2nd position is just a bonus.
Went back home to sleep just for a few hours after the event before booking in at night in preparation to work overnight till next morning to set up my unit's water point in conjunction with the Army Half Marathon. Initially we were supposed to run but ended up the freshmen soldiers were tasked to do
sai kang instead. My unit's water point is just outside Suntec Tower 3. Loading and unloading boxes of drinks and jelly cans till after those people ran past our water point then we packed up. Trust me , I rather run than clearing up all the mess left by participants. However , under the
bobian act , not everything goes according to our wishes. That's life.
I wanted to blog yesterday but couldn't access into blogger for some reason. So here I am , back again in action.
Anybody read yesterday's straits times the main section of the newspaper ? Apparently somebody snooped around my campsite taking photos of the fleet of brand new BMWs parked near my company line. These posh cars are meant for next month's IMF to ferry those delegates around. We were doing marshal training near that area when the photo was taken. The guy with the bright green vest and in standard battle order is 1 of our guys and the 1 beside him is 1 of our seniors guiding him. Apparently , the photo published did not gain offical consent and the top management were not happy. They even suspected is 1 of us but of course , we are not so boliao to take classified photos and send them to reporters. We have better things to do. Besides , cameras are contraband items and are not allowed in the camp. I for one , will never be a joker to sign extras just for defying the rules.
Last weekend enjoyed another long weekend. We had two days off and I spent Friday kboxing with two of my closer army friends and saturday with my jc brothers. Watched Click. It's a very nice movie. I laughed from start till the end. Humorous yet meaningful film which emphasised the importance of family ties and relations. Even bumped into my group of army friends coming to the usual place where I always play pool in town. Such a coincidence. It's my honour to share the love and passion of playing pool to my army friends. Am glad that there are at least a handful who knows how to play so that almost everytime we are out , pool is a certain activity.
Now that the first course has ended , I am back to my unit. Am so glad because the food in camp is much more better than the camp where I stayed in during my course. Kind of surprised to see 84 in my camp though different unit. He called out to me in the canteen. Thought he will be posted to those chiong sua vocations. It's been so long since 84 , 85 , 86 , 87 had an outing together. Must indeed find a day when everyone is free to catch up.
Will you still love me in the morning ?Forever and ever.
I passed the first attempt of my course's final test ! Happy yes , because I get to stay out everyday and enjoyed days off such as a long weekend this recent weekend. Such privileges are entitled to those who passed only. Tomorrow morning then book in. There are pros and cons of staying out. The cons are extra burden to my financial means due to having to set aside additional expenses for transport to and fro camp and dinner. But hey , I get to sleep on my own comfortable bed and doesn't have to risk being raped by mosquitoes or whatever flies back in bunk. So I am not complaining.
Went to watch Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift with my gabrielite brothers yesterday. I must say it's a nice show and I wondered why I didn't catch the previous series. It was particularly pleasing to the eye to watch the art of drifting regardless where it took place , be it on the streets of Tokyo weaving in and out of other road users or a team of cars along the roads of the mountain aka "qiu ming shan" alike. Cannot help but associate this movie with Initial D. There were some scenes in Tokyo Drift that look uncannily like the ones in Initial D. For instance , the final race looks like is held at "qiu ming shan" lookalike but clearly there's a difference because there were more series of bends in the former compared to the latter. The part in which the underground racer crashed his car reminded me of Jordan Chan's similar stunt. Tokyo Drift oozes appealing factors such as the hot cars and well , the hot babes. The plenty number of eye-candies in the movie is much more better than the boring girl in Initial D whom I don't think anybody cares whether she wears a two-piece swimwear or nothing at the beach. However , it is gross injustice to say Tokyo Drift is better because both films offer different styles of enshrining the art of drifting. Personally I still prefer the tofu car than the piece of junk found possibly in the junkyard. Overall , like what a friend of mine put it , Tokyo Drift is more like an R&B/Hip-hop based kind of thing whereas Initial D represented more on manga-styled kind of thing which obviously it is because it is adapted from the comics. With the right sense of humour , definitely a show worth watching with plenty of flash and flesh to offer.
It's amazing that even though I see these guys around for 5.5 days/week , we still don't get sick of seeing one another again during weekends' outings. The times of lounging around in our bunks eating snacks and chatting , chinese chess sessions or gaying with each other. If there's anything to gain in my mandatory 1 year and 10 months of national service , it is definitely the friendships bonded among us. Exactly 18 months from today to receive back my pink identity card.
Played pool and watched Dragon Tiger Gate last week. Quite a disappointing show nevertheless of the action-packed scenes because the story plot is plain and dialogues between the actors are bland. "The practice of martial arts is to strengthen ourselves and not to pick up fights with others" is platitude. This statement seems like an embodiment of every martial arts-inspired movie. Can't we have something more refreshing for a change ?
Haven't watch Fast & Furious : Tokyo Drift yet. I didn't join my army mates to watch yesterday because I wanted to meet up with other group of friends this weekend. Especially my BMT fellow Mohawk buddies whom I had not met up for quite some time. Seems like nobody was free so ended up at home watching Superband Finals. Damn , I love the contestants' clothes and accessories ! Is freaking nice. Personally I prefer Lucify but I expected Mi Lu Bing to win and indeed they won. You absolutely can't deny their talents at such young ages and their popularity with the mass public.
Lately been feeling rather lacklustre. Lacking of motivation to keep the engine going. No sparks in my life and I am tired of the daily routine of everyday life. How I wish there is someone who can paint my world with a palette of colours. A panacea is needed most now to act as a nirvana to regain the sense of direction in my journey ahead. No , I am not trapped in a nadir neither do I have any suicidal mood. If possible , allow me .. to pick up the pieces of the broken dream once again. However , simplicity seems to serve its meaning only in fairytales.
