After watching Jay Incomparable Concert'04 on vcd again , I still can't adduce why I decided not to go to watch him live last year. Hopefully I will be able to make it to his next concert in Singapore.
Pretty relaxed now. Partly because I am finally done with prom stuffs. Everything is settled. Looking forward to next monday. I envisage that the cost for all the prom package will be about $500 including hotel room fees , hair , post-prom stuffs but excluding the transport fees I spent running around to get everything settled. My attire from top to bottom is already $300+. I know some people think is so ludicrous to spend so much but I beg to differ. I paid all these using my own money ---- part of my salary working at Cold Storage last year. It may seems that I have the carte blanche to spend since is my money but frankly , I mentioned before that I don't manage my finance perfunctorily. JC Prom is once in a lifetime and it is also the first time I am going to a prom (my secondary school don't have prom , I supposed is because the school management feels that since we are all boys there isn't a need to). That is why I am going all out to make this one a memorable one. I just want to look better than usual. Moreover 5th December ain't just any other day. That makes it all the more worthwhile. However , I promised myself that I have to earn all these money back. I have like months to earn money before I go tekong and become a national slave.
Anyhow , my digital camera ------ also paid using part of my Cold Storage salary is turning 1 soon. I bought it an extra new storage card with larger memory space for more storaging of pictures as a birthday present. I love my digital camera , it brings me lots of memories whenever I view the photos I have taken -----both beautiful and painful ones. It may not be the best around but is invaluable because I paid for it through my own effort. I believe that if I want anything extra such as expensive gadgets , I should work for it and not expect my parents to pay for it/them. As children we should not add extra burden to our parents as they are already working hard outside in this competitive society.
Speaking of Cold Storage , this time last year I had already started working as Xmas Promoter at Jelita. How time flies really. I missed all those people I knew throughout my stint : Biscuit Auntie , Fruits Auntie , Fruit Juice Auntie all of whom always gave me the stuffs they were promoting to eat , Kaiwen the Dove Shampoo girl whom initially I mistook as a mystery shopper , Thulasi , Jaya for helping out especially on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day , Farah who never fails to give a cheery hi everytime she saw me , the security guard who also never fails to ask me 'xiao di , how are the sales today ? ' , all my partners especially Nicole Jie , Eunice , Pamela Jie all of whom are crappers but will be there , Norton too (the only male partner throughout my entire stint) who sticked with me through the hellish OTs and especially the major collection days , Vicki the friendly Caltex girl who treated me to a box of Qiu Tze Kueh (tiapoca cakes) , Jessie my direct supervisor who showed me the ropes and was really patient with me even though I erred at times , the Delicatessen da jies for teaching me how to chop up a butterball roast turkey and slice all those hams for samples to let customers try...they are all very friendly and I can never resist exchanging bantering words with them..real jokers they are.. , Janet the supermarket head who is patient too though she is rather stingy (treated my partner and I to a measly pizza hut student meal each even though we helped rake in thousands for them). Still , a treat is better than none. Also , since she never flared at us openly , we forgave her. LOL. The customers too..some were real funny. Like for example there was 1 caucasian who told us he wanted to order 'a god-damn turkey' in a joking manner. My partner and I never forget to say : 'Sir , here is ur god-damn turkey. Merry Xmas too. ' when he came to collect on Xmas Day. Real funny indeed. Very interesting to meet all sorts of customers. I chatted with Andrea De Cruz in real person too. She wasn't buying our products but just wanted to know how to put up a notice at our notice board. She is much prettier than on TV and she smiled at me ! Nah , I wasn't starstruck. Not as if she is Rainie. LOL. Luckily though I didn't stumble on my english that day. Those who know me will know that to converse in english is not my forte because my main spoken language is normally in mandarin.
Also not to forget others whom I know in 1 way or another.
The stint at Cold Storage is the most memorable of all out of all the holiday jobs I worked before. I worked as waiter , kitchen helper , fliers distributor previously but none of those experiences beat this CS experience. Too bad this year CS never engaged my agency's services. Nonetheless still hope that this year I can have equally great working experience , if not better ones.

Jelita Cold Storage !

Our Christmas Booth. Taken on Xmas Day itself which was the most hectic day of all due to lots of collections.

My nametag ! I still keep it up to today :)

The place where I chiong to every morning to punch in.

The insane number of OT hours.

Jelita CS Xmas Team' 04 !

27th Nov 04 - 25th Dec 04 will always be part of the fond memories etched in the back of my mind.
Tired out from all the shopping.
I went shopping for prom stuffs. Was delighted that I settled my blazer and pants already yesterday and I thought today I can settle my shoes and shirt. The shoes part at the very least. So I scoured the whole stretch of Orchard from Far East to PS including areas which I hardly frequent like John Little and Robinsons but ended disappointed because nothing attracts me. Only took a few toilet breaks and the real break was for 20mins for a dinner at Burger King. I was alone partly because normally when it comes to shopping most of the time I prefer to shop alone and also because I have very few friends who make good shopping companions who can last longer than usual or who can give constructive comments when I need them.
It was not unusual that I ended up buying nothing because I rarely buy clothes from town from past experiences. There was 1 shirt that was well below expected price range and the design was great too (loud but yet a classic -- the type I like) but unfortunately , there wasn't any sizes available for me. It seems like a wasted trip today but not really because after due consideration , I bought Rainie Yang Cheng Lin's revamped edition album ! It comes with a free pass to her autograph session on 29th December and that means I am going no matter what (even if it comes to sacrificing a day's wages if I am working on that day). I mean is not everyday she comes to Singapore and her revamped album is really worth the price with all the songs + 5 MVs + other stuffs. I am so excited that I am asking friends to join me. Anybody who bought her album and is going must remember to tell me so that we can go together. Hopefully can shake her hand and take a picture together. I will like to tell Rainie too that she is my li3 xiang3 qing2 ren2 (ideal girlfriend) ! hahahhahahahha. This happens to be my most favourite track with similar namesake from her album. Damn , I sound like 1 horny bastard who just reach puberty or something but this is the first time I go gaga over artistes. I didn't even attend any of S.H.E's autograph sessions previously and didn't even consider buying their 8th album too which is released today. It is a fact that I like Rainie and made an exception for her , but I wouldn't go to the extent of booking mercedes cabs to follow her or wat which I find it time-consuming and money-wasting. Just buy her album and get her autograph and watch Guess x3 are more than enough.
I have about a week's time to settle for prom stuffs. Thought could finish that today but it looks like I have to scout for more options around.
So it is now the aftermath , post-A levels period. All ended on 21st November. I didn't plonk down to bed till the next day nor did I have any hot chocolate. I came home to rest and read the papers and found out that my favourite team Real Madrid was trounced 0 - 3 by their bitter rival Barcelona. Disappointed no doubt , especially since 2 of the goals were scored by my most favourite soccer player Ronaldinho (besides Ronaldo). Our national U-23 soccer team lost to Vietnam too. Aiya , no comments. How Singapore is 'Team Singapore' anyway ? Think about it.
Nonetheless , it all ended but still there is this lingering fear in me. The fear that 9079 , especially 9079/3 will drag me down. Oh well I shouldn't think too much since it already ended and there is nothing I can do.
The past few days I have been doing maintenance stuffs : both on my computer and in my room. Deleted rubbish files , songs , pictures etc in my computer to clear up spaces. Packed up all those pile of notes littered everywhere in my room and tidied them up. Resisted the temptation to dump all 9079 stuffs into the rubbish chute ------ the place where they should belong long ago. However , since I am a sentimental guy , I decided to keep them instead. Pun fully intended here.
Besides that , I have been watching VCDs/DVD these past few days. Initial D (4th time) , House Of Fury (3rd time) and New Police Story (2nd time)...all my most favourite movies. I only buy CDs/VCDs if only they are worth for the money in my view. You may think I am
siao to watch so many times but I really don't get bored by it. Can almost memorised all the dialogues in them , especially Initial D. Just like some people who watched Titantic 20+ times and never got bored by it. Same logic here. And finally I watched The Myth too on DVD after missing it in the cinemas. Typical Jackie Chan production in which he is always the winner in the end (or is it all his productions are also like that ? ) . The main reason why Jackie Chan's movies always attract the crowd thronging to watch is because his unique stunts and actions always intrigue people. Think : leaping from cliff to cliff..scaling up and down building walls as if they are staircases. I am a big fan of his too but I find a certain scenerio in The Myth rather exaggerating : the part where he seemingly take down many soldiers on the battlefield. It is like all the soldiers all rushed to him only to be slashed by him , forming a sort of 'human dump' of dead corpses lying in a pile around him. I was like WOW ! He is like a demi-god , perhaps even better than Bai Qi (arguably the best general in the Qin Dynasty) or even Yue Fei (national hero in the Southern Song Dynasty). He did died in the end , but with honour by supporting himself with a rod or something behind him. I admire this great spirit possessed like a true general back in the feudal era. Kim Hee Seon is really elegant too. She exudes full serenity and has a simple but yet winsome aura within her. The kind of qi4 zhi4 which attracts me. The main theme song is great too : sad and touching. Perfect for those who loves to think a lot. There are some scenes which reminds me of games such as the scene where 'Meng Yi' fight with the Indians in their sacred tomb place (Tomb Raider) and the part where he and the princess hugged and floated in a very fantasy 'heaven' with feudal stuffs (FF8 Disc 3 where Squall finally found Rinoa floating in the space) . Overall a great movie , especially I love they link up to chinese historical stuffs such as the terra cotta army. 9/10 for it.
Holidays have started and I have about 1 week+ to spend to go gym (which I did today with friends) , shopping , catching up with friends over dinners/coffees etc. After my prom and birthday , I am most certainly going to work and earn money just like the past year-end holidays.
16 more days , 11 am onwards : start of my own '
Risorgimento' , end of
'Grido Di Dolore'1 more month : double joyous occasions
Hang in there , Comrades.
